Calculator Use

Graphing, scientificand Four-function calculators are accepted or available for certain practice (r) tests. Unless it is clarified that a specific calculator is allowed in a particular test and test, calculators are not permitted to be used.

Test takers aren't permitted to share calculators.

Tests That Do Not Permit Use of a Calculator

In generally, unless specifically stated that a particular kind of calculator is allowed or required for a particular test, calculators are not allowed to be used for the exam. test.

Tests That Permit the Use of a Calculator

You can use a four-function or scientific calculator for test. Middle School: Content Knowledge (5146) test, however, you aren't required to use one. You'll need to bring your own calculator to the test center. It is not allowed in the test center. The use of a graphing calculator is not allowed in this test.

Types of CalculatorsThat Are Not Permitted

The following are not permitted during Praxis test:

  • Portable/handheld computers or laptops
  • Electronic writing pads
  • Models with pen-input/stylus/touch-screen capability
  • Calculators on any phones or watches, as well as other electronic devices
  • Models featuring QWERTY or other alphabetic keyboards as part of software or hardware
  • Models printed with printers
  • Models that make noise , or "talk"
  • Modells which require an electrical outlet
  • Models that can access the internet, as well as have Bluetooth (r) or wireless Bluetooth (r) capability.
  • Models with a camera with scanning capabilities, digital audio/video player recording/player capability

In addition, the usage of hardware peripherals is not allowed.

Tests That Provide an On-screen Calculator

Calculators provided by test takers are not allowed to be used for Praxis test with calculators that are on-screen.

On-Screen Scientific Calculator

Following tests in the Praxis tests offer an on-screen scientific calculator. The tests use an TI-30XS MultiView(tm) calculator. There is a tutorial available so that you can test your skills using the calculator in the simulator prior to test day.

On-Screen Graphing Calculator

This set of Practice tests have an onscreen graphing calculator. The tests use calculators such as the TI-84 Plus CE calculator. A tutorial is provided so that you can practice using the calculator on screen prior to your exam day.
